Wooo-hooooo! We only went and did it again!

I have to say that I’m feeling a bit tired and emotional today after an incredible evening at the British Accountancy Awards last night (29 November 2016).

For those of you who don’t know, the British Accountancy Awards are now in their sixth year and the awards dinner is one of the most prestigious events on the accountancy industry calendar. We entered two awards this year but came home with THREE trophies. That’s a great result in anyone’s book.

We were massively proud to retain our title of Independent Firm of the Year, East of England. We were up against some fantastic firms, including our friends and neighbours Aston Shaw, which makes the win even more meaningful for us. We know that we can never rest on our laurels if we want to stand a chance of winning again in 2017 because there are some great independent practices in our region.

Innovation was a new theme for the 2016 awards and because this is something we are completely committed to we were desperate to win our category. To be presented with the award for Most Innovative Independent Practice was completely fantastic. But to win a third trophy as Most Innovative Practice overall - beating international accountancy brand Deloitte – was fairly mind blowing!

For us at Farnell Clarke, innovation is business as usual; it’s just something we do. What many of our competitors are doing now, in terms of adopting cloud-technology, we were doing seven years ago. Clever use of technology isn’t exceptional it’s a fundamental part of our business; enabling us to devised new systems, streamline processes and enhance our company culture.

I’m massively proud of my team, past and present, and what we’ve achieved. Winning Most Innovative Practice overall feels like confirmation of all that I have worked for over the past ten years but I couldn’t have done it without my fantastic staff and the many clients who have trusted us with their businesses. Thank you all so much.

Will Farnell
